Trilobites were three lobed prehistoric sea creatures, about 450-600 million years old. Their bodies consisted of three main body divisions: Cephalon (Anterior section), Thorax (Medial section), and Pegydium (Posterior section) They were one of the first living creatures to develop compound eyes. They had multi-faceted eye lenses, and conspicuously segmented bodies, which enabled them to roll up, when faced with danger or upon their death when their muscles contracted. There are over 10,000 different species of trilobites, which can be found throughout the world. Many of these amazing Specimens came out of the Sahara desert in Morocco which was covered by a vast sea about 600 million years ago. This was a warm, shallow Cambrian sea, which created the perfect habitat for these bottom dwelling sea creatures. Some Trilobites are said to be related to the modern horse shoe crab, but many others went extinct about 100 million years before the evolution of the horse shoe crab. All our trilobite fossils were found in the Sahara Desert in Morocco, and they date back to between 350 to 550 million years ago.
